Well let me tell you the story of the Makersapce
The Markerspace was born during a weekend Hackathon in @Sune 's apartment back in Copenhagen.
Sune had to go to a conference to showcase our Hyperboard and I happened to have the keys to his apartments. It was a no brainer that I should take the guys, get some snacks and start executing on our long lived assumption.
At Faraday Motion our philosophy is to be open source and collaborate to innovate. That is how we came up with the idea of the online makerspace. It was meant to be a platform where user/customers can post their ideas for improving the Spine (and later the Hyperboard), teaming up with other users/customers, executing on it then share it with the community.
So there were we. At the end of the weekend we have a beta version of the Hyperboard. For those who are curious, it was build on top of Laravel (a popular PHP framework).
Time has passed and we realized that the platform was requiring some real adjustments. There are quite a few features that it is lacking. That was one of the first realizations. Then we learned that actually our users are more interested in communicating in a format more similar to forum. That is why we have decided to launch it.
Now since we plan the forum to take the place of the makerspace, it means that we will have to close down the makerspace. However before we will do this we will ask all the users to transfer their projects from the makerspace to the forum.
Got a question? Let us know.
